Terms of Service

Service Description
Scam Support is a free email fraud analysis service operated by Boundary Labs. The service is designed to help individuals — particularly seniors and their caretakers — evaluate whether a suspicious email is likely to be fraudulent. There is no account creation, no login, and no setup required. The entire interaction happens through your existing email client.
How It Works
- Forward any suspicious email to check@scam.support from your email client.
- Our system analyzes the email using a combination of automated rule engines, threat intelligence databases, Google Safe Browsing URL checks, and AI-powered analysis (Claude by Anthropic).
- You receive a reply within approximately 60 seconds containing a risk assessment score, a risk level (low, medium, high, or critical), a plain-language explanation, and regionally relevant advice.
What Happens to Your Email
When you forward an email to check@scam.support:
- Your email address is stored in our database so that we can send you the risk assessment reply, deliver TIPS content if you opt in, and support the caretaker feature. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what data we collect and store.
- The email body content is stored temporarily in encrypted object storage (Cloudflare R2) while our analysis pipeline processes it. Once analysis is complete, the stored email content is permanently deleted. Email body content is never written to our database.
- Metadata and analysis results are stored permanently — including the subject line, sender information (as a hash), URLs found in the email, attachment metadata, risk score, and explanation. These contribute to our threat intelligence database.
Important Disclaimers
Probabilistic Risk Assessments
Scam Support provides risk assessments, not definitive determinations. All results are probabilistic estimates of fraud risk based on the information available to our analysis systems at the time of submission.
Risk scores range from 3 to 97 on a scale of 0 to 100 — we never claim absolute certainty in either direction. A score of 3 does not guarantee an email is safe, and a score of 97 does not guarantee an email is fraudulent. Our systems analyze patterns, known threat indicators, and contextual signals to estimate the likelihood of fraud, but no automated system can make this determination with complete accuracy.
Results are provided for informational purposes only and should not be the sole basis for any financial, legal, or security decision.
Anonymized Threat Data Sharing
We build a threat intelligence database from analysis results. Suspect sender reputation data (hashed email addresses, domain patterns), URL reputation data, and scam template patterns may be shared publicly. Your identity as a submitter is never shared or made public. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Consent and Communications
By forwarding an email to check@scam.support, you consent to:
- The collection and storage of your email address and the metadata described in our Privacy Policy.
- Receiving a risk assessment reply to your email address (this is a transactional message, exempt from CASL and CAN-SPAM consent requirements).
You may also opt in to additional communications:
- TIPS: Reply TIPS to any scam.support email to receive scam alerts and safety tips (express consent under CASL).
- CARETAKER: Reply CARETAKER to any scam.support email to designate a trusted person to receive copies of your risk assessment replies.
- STOP: Reply STOP to any scam.support email to immediately revoke marketing consent and stop receiving TIPS content.
Acceptable Use
- Submit only genuinely suspicious emails. Do not forward emails you know to be legitimate for the purpose of manipulating threat intelligence data.
- Do not automate submissions. Do not use scripts, bots, or automated tools to send bulk submissions.
- Do not attempt to exploit the service. Do not reverse-engineer the analysis algorithms or extract proprietary data.
- Do not impersonate others.
Rate Limits
Submissions are limited to 10 per hour per email address. If you exceed this limit, you will receive a polite notification on your first excess submission, and further submissions will be silently dropped until the rate limit window resets. A global rate limit also applies to protect the service during periods of unusually high volume; known users (those who have submitted before) receive priority during these periods.
If you have a legitimate need for a higher limit, contact check@scam.support.
Service Availability
We strive to provide continuous, reliable service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We are not liable for any damages resulting from service interruptions. If the service is unavailable, do not interact with the suspicious email until you can obtain an independent assessment.
Intellectual Property
The Scam Support service, including its analysis algorithms, threat intelligence database, website content, and associated documentation, is the intellectual property of Boundary Labs. Risk assessment replies are provided for your personal use. You may share individual replies with family members, caretakers, or law enforcement.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scam Support and Boundary Labs are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service. This includes, without limitation, any losses incurred as a result of acting or failing to act based on a risk assessment provided by the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service (which, as a free service, is zero).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Boundary Labs, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.

We may update these terms from time to time. Updated versions will be posted to scam.support/terms. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. If material changes are made, we will notify active users via the reply email footer.
